The Condition of the Cattle Market….

Thanks to the assistance of Rachael Collins at the Lethbridge Public Library, I was able to track down an article Peregrine Acland wrote in 1908 called, “The Condition of the Cattle Market.”

The article appeared in The Lethbridge Weekly Herald on August 8th, 1908, and then again on August 19th.  According to the preamble, this “racy” article originally ran in the Toronto Globe, though I have been unable to find it via The Globe & Mail archives.

This article is of minor interest to the Acland enthusiast, though it offers some context to both his short story Larraby’s Lope, that appeared in the April 1907 edition of The Canadian Magazine, as well as the early ‘cowboy’ chapter of All Else is Folly.

The article can be read here: Lethbridge Weekly Herald, 1908 08 08
