Love is Dead…

Love is Dead

By Peregrine Acland

Ring the knell, for Love is dead.
Stricken by Time’s callous hand,
Ye for whom his shafts were sped,
Ring the knell, for Love is dead!
He hath drooped his boyish head
On cool Lethe’s shadowed strand,
Ring the knell, for Love is dead,
Stricken by Time’s callous hand.
–Canadian Magazine.

Printed in The Evening Record, (Windsor Ontario): December 4th, 1912, page 5.  Vol. 22, No. 211.  Presumably from the November or December issue of the Canadian Magazine (which I haven’t been able to track down).

Acland was 21 when this was re-published in the Record, and still a student at the University of Toronto.
